Why is wool-free so important - Isn’t alpaca a wool? We use the term Alpaca Fiber and Alpaca Wool simultaneously because alpaca can be used in many of the same ways that sheep’s wool can, however, Alpaca is far more luxurious and outperforms regular wool on every level.
Sheep’s wool contains lanolin, one of the most allergenic substances, it holds moisture which bed bugs, dust mites and other microscopic pests live on. It is itchy and each hair has tiny barbs that hold onto dust, and dander. The inclusion of sheep’s wool in other mattress pads is a less-costly commodity. It simply reduces material costs, and with it, performance.
Alpaca is warmer than wool, its superb thermoregulation alone makes it leaps-and-bounds above any other naturally occurring fiber, yet it doesn’t cause overheating.
